Microsoft has partnered with Code Explorers to bring real life experiences in engineering, technology and computer science subjects to students PK-12.

As part of these efforts, Microsoft provided a series of hands-on DRONE demos that connect Code Explorers’ electro-mechanical engineering and mechatronics enrichment program classes to student in Miami/Dade schools.

Brittany Valdes, Microsoft Store Community Development Specialist at Dadeland Mall and Guadalupe Casuso, Microsoft Senior Development Engineer provided live demonstrations of DRONES utilizing SURFACE PRO and WINDOWS PHONE devices connected via WIFI to several commercial DRONES.

Ms. Casuso explained the interconnection among electrical, mechanical and software engineering disciplines as she explained the uses of DRONES. Ms. Valdes explained the value-added outreach programs provided by Microsoft at their stores in South Florida – many at no-cost to the public.

Educational partnership programs with the technology sector help students connect what they learn in the classroom with the world around them. Ms. De Pena, a veteran electro-mechanical engineer and President of Code Explorers explains, “…by capturing the students’ imagination and creativity, Code Explorers aims to motivate students to pursue careers in engineering, technology and computer science. In addition, Code Explorers trains new and upcoming teachers and engineers to develop new skills using mobile technology and learning…”

Code Explorers™ has developed and provides training in: 3D modeling, 3D printing, mobile app development, 3D Robotics, Search Engine Algorithms, Design Thinking Methodology, game design, computer science, wide range of engineering disciplines, and Technology Entrepreneurship program.
